Tampa Bay Buccaneer Cornerback Sean Murphy-Bunting exploded in the 2020 playoffs, making an interception in each of Tampa Bay’s three playoff victories. He is the first NFL player to record three picks in his first three career playoff games since Hall of Famer Ed Reed did this with the Baltimore Ravens. Two of Murphy-Bunting’s playoff interceptions came against quarterbacks destined for gold jackets- Drew Brees of the New Orleans Saints and Aaron Rodgers of the Green Bay Packers. In February 2020, Murphy-Bunting, alongside Tom Brady, starred in and won his first Superbowl Championship vs Patrick Mahomes and The Kansas City Chiefs.
Murphy-Bunting completed his four-year rookie contract with the Tampa Bay-Buccaneers, achieving 217 tackles, 26 passes defended, 5 forced fumbles in 53 career regular-season games and 6 post season playoff games. “Ball Hawk” Murphy-Bunting had a total of 10 career interceptions (one returned for a 70-yard touchdown) in his first four seasons in the NFL.
In March of 2023, Sean became a free agent and signed a one year deal with the Tennessee Titans. He left his old jersey number 23 behind and chose #0, thus becoming the first Tennessee Titan player to ever wear this number. As the starting Cornerback, for the Titans, Sean finished the season with 2 interceptions one in the London game against the Baltimore Ravens (Lamar Jackson), 8 passes defended, 2 force fumbles, 1 fumble recovery and 57 tackles.
In March of 2024, Sean entered his 6th season in the NFL signing a 3 year contract with the Arizona Cardinals. He will wear #23. Sean finished the season with 3 interceptions, 5 passes defended, 2 forced fumbles and 52 tackles.
Sean is out for the 2025 Season due to injury. Although he is not on the playing field, you can still find him on the sidelines supporting his teammates and out in the community being a blessing to others.
